LCA offers testing services for both LCA and non-LCA students as space permits. Test fees and additional administration fees may apply. Registration for students in other cover schools is welcomed as space permits. Registration opens August 1st.

Parents may choose one or more tests for 8-12th grade students. Listed below are common options for high school students.

PSAT/NMSQT: Download PSAT Registration Form. Wed, Oct. 11, 2017, 8am at LCA. Half day test. Most useful to 10-11th graders. Prep test for SAT. This is the qualifying exam for Nat’l. Merit Scholarships in the 11th grade. Register/pay at LCA. $30. Guests welcome. www.collegeboard.org. Registration deadline: Sept. 21, 2017, 5pm.

PSAT 8/9 and PSAT10: Download PSAT Registration Form. Mon, March 19, 2018, 8am at LCA. Half day test. Most useful to 8-10th graders. Prep test for SAT and tracking progress for SAT and PSAT/NMSQT. Register/pay at LCA. $30. Guests welcome. www.collegeboard.org. Registration deadline: Jan. 25, 2018.

ACT: We are sorry to announce that we can no longer offer ACT testing to our guests.

National ACT testing is available at other area testing centers 6 times per year. www.act.org. For these tests students must register on line about a month in advance of the test.

Check individual colleges for scores needed for college admission or scholarships. Scores beginning about 22 are in scholarship range. Scholarship early application deadline is Dec. 1 each year at majority of four year colleges.

AP exams: Download AP Test Registration Form May 7-11 & 14-18, 2018. Available in various subjects. Takes about 4 hours for each test. Many colleges accept AP scores for college credit. Amount of credit and scores required vary by institution. See specific college for details. Visit www.collegeboard.com/testing/ap for course syllabus, test dates. Most useful for 10-12th graders. Register and pay at LCA. $125/test. Registration deadline: March 22, 2018.

ASVAB test: Exam for military entrance. Also has helpful career interest inventory. Most useful for 10-12th grade . Free. Given in early Sept at Huntsville Christian Academy. Contact hca.bean@gmail.com for registration.

SAT: College entrance exam widely accepted by colleges. Not given at LCA, but given several times a year at area test centers. Online registration and payment deadline about a month ahead of the test. $52.50. www.collegeboard.com.

*Many advise that students should take both ACT and SAT and see which test fits them better. Students tend to score better on one or the other. Students should plan on taking these tests more than once (with additional study time). Many students begin by taking both tests in summer before or fall of junior year as a baseline so that they have time to see what topics that they might benefit from some additional study
